Public Confession
All: Thank You, heavenly Father, for hearing this confession. Thank You for providing for us a Savior. In His name, we seek forgiveness for all our sins. Because of His work, we come before You with confidence.
We seek forgiveness for speaking wrongly of others and repeating things we heard. We haven’t always spoken the truth and have remained silent when a good word was needed.
We seek forgiveness for holding malicious thoughts. We haven’t thought kindly and compassionately of one another as we should.
Children: Thank You, Father, for forgiving our sins now as we sit in Your church. Forgive us for sometimes being slow in our obedience. Forgive us for not being thankful always for our parents and our homes.
Words of Assurance Colossians 3:12, 13
As those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.

How does Christ execute the office of a prophet?
Christ executes the office of a prophet in His revealing to the Church, in all ages, by His Spirit and Word, in divers ways of administration, the whole will of God, in all things concerning their edification and salvation.
How does Christ execute the office of a priest?
Christ executes the office of a priest in His once offering Himself a sacrifice without spot to God, to be a reconciliation for the sins of His people; and in making continual intercession for them.
How does Christ execute the office of a king?
Christ executes the office of a king in calling out of the world a people to Himself, and giving them officers, laws, and censures, by which He visibly governs them; in bestowing saving grace upon His elect, rewarding their obedience, and correcting them for their sins, preserving and supporting them under all their temptations and sufferings, restraining and overcoming all their enemies, and powerfully ordering all things for His own glory, and their good; and also in taking vengeance on the rest, who know not God, and obey not the gospel.
Pastoral Prayer
*Responsive Reading Proverbs 13:1-11
A wise son accepts his father’s discipline,
But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.
From the fruit of a man’s mouth he enjoys good,
But the desire of the treacherous is violence.
The one who guards his mouth preserves his life;
The one who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing,
But the soul of the diligent is made fat.
A righteous man hates falsehood,
But a wicked man acts disgustingly and shamefully.
Righteousness guards the one whose way is blameless,
But wickedness subverts the sinner.
There is one who pretends to be rich, but has nothing;
Another pretends to be poor, but has great wealth.
The ransom of a man’s life is his wealth,
But the poor hears no rebuke.
The light of the righteous rejoices,
But the lamp of the wicked goes out.
Through insolence comes nothing but strife,
But wisdom is with those who receive counsel.
Wealth obtained by fraud dwindles,
But the one who gathers by labor increases it.
