Praise to the Lord, the Almighty No. 53
Public Confession
We rejoice in Your goodness, O God; and we take courage in Your mercy toward us. Hear this confession of sin, we pray; and restore to us the joy of our salvation.
Forgive those unholy thoughts we conceived, thoughts that defiled our hearts. Forgive those unholy words we spoke, words that brought grief to another.
Forgive those unholy acts we committed, acts that took us far from You. We humbly make this confession through Jesus Christ, our blessed Savior.
Words of Assurance Romans 4:4-8
Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven, and whose sins have been covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account.”

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen.
*Declaring Our Faith The Larger Catechism (18-20)
What are God’s works of providence?
God’s works of providence are His most holy, wise, and powerful preserving and governing all His creatures; ordering them, and all their actions, to His own glory.
What is God’s providence towards the angels?
God by His providence permitted some of the angels, willfully and irrecoverably, to fall into sin and damnation, limiting and ordering that, and all their sins, to His own glory; and established the rest in holiness and happiness; employing them all, at His pleasure, in the administrations of his power, mercy, and justice.
What was the providence of God toward man in the estate in which he was created?
The providence of God toward man in the estate in which he was created was the placing him in paradise, appointing him to dress it, giving him liberty to eat of the fruit of the earth; putting the creatures under his dominion, and ordaining marriage for his help; affording him communion with Himself; instituting the Sabbath; entering into a covenant of life with him, upon condition of personal, perfect, and perpetual obedience, of which the tree of life was a pledge; and forbidding to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, upon the pain of death.
Pastoral Prayer
*Responsive Reading Proverbs 9:10-18
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
For by me your days will be multiplied,
And years of life will be added to you.
If you are wise, you are wise for yourself,
And if you scoff, you alone will bear it.
The woman of folly is boisterous,
She is naive and knows nothing.
She sits at the doorway of her house,
On a seat by the high places of the city,
Calling to those who pass by, who are making their paths straight: “Whoever is naive, let him turn in here,”
And to him who lacks understanding she says, “Stolen water is sweet; and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
But he does not know that the dead are there,
That her guests are in the depths of Sheol.
