  Apostolic Greeting

*Call to Worship                                                   Psalm 147:1–5

Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God;

For it is pleasant and praise is becoming.

The Lord builds up Jerusalem;

He gathers the outcasts of Israel.

He heals the brokenhearted

And binds up their wounds.

He counts the number of the stars;

He gives names to all of them.

Great is our Lord and abundant in strength;

His understanding is infinite.

  Public Confession

Heavenly Father, we confess that we have not always demonstrated the truth of our calling as saints in our words and deeds. We have not spoken with grace, as we are commanded. We have not kept our minds pure. Forgive us, therefore, and enable us to live according to Your righteous Word and let us delight in obedience.

  Words of Assurance                                        Colossians 3:4–7

When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience, and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them.

*Declaring Our Faith[†]                           The Officers of the Church

How are officers added to the church?

Ministers of the Word of God, elders, and deacons ought to be chosen to their offices by a legitimate election of the church, with prayer in the name of the Lord, and in good order, as the Word of God teaches.

What is the duty of the man who desires to serve?

Everyone must be careful not to push himself forward improperly, but he must wait for God’s call, so that he may be assured of his calling and be certain that he is chosen by the Lord.

  Pastoral Prayer

*Responsive Reading                                                   Psalm 111

Praise the Lord!

I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart, in the company of the upright and in the assembly.

Great are the works of the Lord;

They are studied by all who delight in them.

Splendid and majestic is His work,

And His righteousness endures forever.

He has made His wonders to be remembered;

The Lord is gracious and compassionate.

He has given food to those who fear Him;

He will remember His covenant forever.

He has made known to His people the power of His works,

In giving them the heritage of the nations.

The works of His hands are truth and justice;

All His precepts are sure.

They are upheld forever and ever;

They are performed in truth and uprightness.

He has sent redemption to His people;

He has ordained His covenant forever;

Holy and awesome is His name.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;

A good understanding have all those who do His commandments;

His praise endures forever.
