The Lord’s Day
February 13, 2011
Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
according to Your lovingkindness remember me, for Your goodness’ sake, O Lord.
(Psalm 25:7)
Prelude
Apostolic Greeting
*Call to Worship Psalm 34:18–21
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.
He keeps all his bones, not one of them is broken.
Evil shall slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.

Public Confession
Dear Lord, You have called us to be a holy people. Therefore, we confess that we have been overcome by temptation and have sinned against You. We ask for forgiveness in Christ’s name.
Words of Comfort and Assurance Hebrews 2:17
Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

What is the meaning of the words “He was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary”?
These words mean that God’s eternal Son, who is and continues true and eternal God, took upon Him the very nature of man, of the flesh and blood of the virgin Mary, by the operation of the Holy Ghost; that He might also be the true seed of David, like unto His brethren in all things, yet without sin.
What profit do we receive by Christ’s holy conception and nativity?
He has become our Mediator; and with His innocence and perfect holiness, covers my sins in the sight of God, in which I was conceived and brought forth.
Pastoral Prayer
*Responsive Reading Psalm 43
Vindicate me, O God, and plead my case against an ungodly nation;
O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man!
For You are the God of my strength;
Why have You rejected me?
Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me;
Let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your dwelling places.
Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy;
And upon the lyre I shall praise You, O God, my God.
Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me?
Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.
