All the earth worships You and sings praises to You;

they sing praises to Your name.

(Psalm 66:4)

Prelude

Apostolic Greeting

*Call to Worship Psalm 104:31–33

May the glory of the Lord endure forever;

May the Lord rejoice in His works,

Who looks on the earth and it trembles,

Who touches the mountains and they smoke!

I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;

I will sing praise to my God while I have being.

  Public Confession

Even when we sin, O Lord, You remain faithful and true. We are eager, therefore, to honor You by making this confession of our transgressions. Forgive our bitterness, harsh words, angry declarations, and thoughtless conclusions. Forgive our selfishness, deception, boasting, and complacency. By Your Spirit, create in us thankful and generous hearts; fill us with compassion, humility, and zeal for the truth.

Words of Assurance           John 14:1-3

“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.”

*Declaring Our Faith[†]   The Catechism of the Church in Geneva

In what sense did Christ serve as a Prophet?

On coming into the world Christ declared Himself an ambassador to men, and an interpreter, and that for the purpose of putting an end to all revelations and prophecies by giving a full exposition of His Father’s will.

How was Christ equipped to serve as a Prophet?

Christ was filled with the Holy Spirit with an abundance of all His gifts, that He might impart them to us; that is, to each according to the measure which the Father knows to be suited to us.

  Pastoral Prayer

*Responsive Reading  Psalm 20

May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble!

May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!

May He send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion!

May He remember all your offerings and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices!

May He grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans!

May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners!

May the Lord fulfill all your petitions!

Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving might of His right hand.

Some trust in chariots and some in horses,

But we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright.

O Lord, save the king! May He answer us when we call.
