The Lord’s Day
January 25, 2009
Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle.
(Psalm 144:1)
Prelude
Apostolic Greeting
*Call to Worship Psalm 47:1–4
O clap your hands, all peoples;
Shout to God with the voice of joy.
For the Lord Most High is to be feared,
A great King over all the earth.
He subdues peoples under us
And nations under our feet.
He chooses our inheritance for us,
The glory of Jacob whom He loves.

*Hymn Psalm 100B (facing page)
Public Confession
Dear Lord, hear the confession of Your people and have mercy on us for Christ’s sake. Our sin is ever before us; we admit that we have disregarded Your holy Word, and now we seek forgiveness. We make this declaration to You being comforted by Your willingness to pardon us and lead us in the path of righteousness in the days to come.
Words of Assurance John 10:27–29
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.”

*Declaring Our Faith2 The Sacraments (part 4)
The union that we have with the body and blood of Christ Jesus in the right use of the sacraments is wrought by means of the Holy Spirit, who by true faith carries us above all things that are visible, carnal, and earthly, and makes us feed upon the body and blood of Christ Jesus, once broken and shed for us but now in heaven, and appearing for us in the presence of His Father.
Pastoral Prayer
*Responsive Reading Psalm 25:1–13
To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
O my God, in You I trust,
Do not let me be ashamed;
Do not let my enemies exult over me.
Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed;
Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed.
Make me know Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation and for You I wait all the day.
Remember, O Lord, Your compassion and Your lovingkindnesses,
For they have been from of old.
Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
According to Your lovingkindness remember me, for Your goodness’ sake, O Lord.
Good and upright is the Lord;
Therefore He instructs sinners in the way.
He leads the humble in justice,
And He teaches the humble His way.
All the paths of the Lord are lovingkindness and truth to those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.
For Your name’s sake, O Lord, pardon my iniquity, for it is great.
Who is the man who fears the Lord?
He will instruct him in the way he should choose.
His soul will abide in prosperity,
And his descendants will inherit the land.
