The Lord’s Day

July 10, 2011

In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice;

in the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.

(Psalm 5:3)

  Prelude

  Apostolic Greeting

*Call to Worship      Psalm 95:1, 2

O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord,

Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.

Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving,

Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.

  Public Confession

O God, forgive us for destructive words and selfishness. Forgive us when we doubt Your promises. Please forgive all of our offenses for Christ’s sake.

  Words of Assurance      Hebrews 4:14-16

Since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

*Declaring Our Faith[†]   Fisher’s Catechism

What is God’s work of creation?

The work of creation is God’s making all things of nothing, by the word of His power, in the space of six days, and all very good.

From whom did this world receive its being and beginning?

This world received its being and beginning from God only, who is being itself, and gives being to all things.

Was there any preexistent matter out of which God created the world?

No, but by His powerful word, he called “those things which were not, as though they were.”

  Pastoral Prayer

*Responsive Reading     Psalm 97:1–7

The Lord reigns; let the earth rejoice;

Let the many islands be glad.

Clouds and thick darkness surround Him;

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.

Fire goes before Him,

And burns up His adversaries round about.

His lightnings lit up the world;

The earth saw and trembled.

The mountains melted like wax at the presence of the Lord,

At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

The heavens declare His righteousness,

And all the peoples have seen His glory.

Let all those be ashamed who serve graven images, who boast themselves of idols;

Worship Him, all you gods.
